Day Fifteen

Meditation: God will stand by me

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 4: 16-22

In the study today we understand that Apostle Paul was arrested and taken to trial for the preaching of the gospel in Rome. During this period of persecution, he was abandoned by believers in Rome. They forsook him out of fear of also being arrested for persecution. They lost their boldness in Christ to the fear of suffering. May you not be forsaken at the time of difficulties or great trail of faith by the people who should be there for you.

As believers we must not abandon our leaders in their time of trials and difficulties. Leaders also go through times of difficulties and trials and would be greatly encouraged to see their followers around them at such times. I therefore urge you to remain loyal to your leader at all times so that you can be an encouragement and source of joy to him or her.

Those who abandon their leader(s) in times of difficulties and challenges are disloyal to the leader. Loyalty is being true to a person or cause in all circumstances. Disloyalty has consequences. It does attract divine sanctions thus Paul prayed for those who deserted him that it may not be laid to their charge.

As believers we should also remain bold in the Lord and in our faith at all times and refuse to deny our faith in face of trails and/or persecutions. Perhaps this was the situation of Paul’s disciples. Perhaps they were not rooted and grounded and buckled under intense pressure when they saw their leader arrested and being persecuted and therefore ran off. Rather than coming out boldly to identify with Christ and with him, they disappeared as if they did not know Christ.

It is important for you as a believer to develop deep roots and confidence in Christ so that you can stand the face of any challenges that may come against your faith. It is not sufficient to start the race but essential to remain in it to the very end.
Matthew 24:13 KJV
[13] But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

God stands with us when we go through life’s difficulties and challenges. He stands with us whether people abandon us or not. You should therefore develop your confidence in the fact that God will be there with you in all situations of life. Jesus has given us this assurance when He sent us with the Great commission that He will be with us always:

Matthew 28:19-20 KJV

[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

God was with Paul and delivered him out of his great difficulties and strengthened him in his trials. Verse Seventeen. May you also experience God’s strength and his mighty deliverance from the mouth of lions and from great difficulties and challenges of life in Jesus name. Amen.

Paul was confident of what God would do in future, that He would deliver him from every evil work and would preserve him to the very end. This is the assurance of God’s promise that you also have for the future, that:
2 Timothy 4:18 KJV
[18] And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Stand on this promise today and for the rest of your life. No matter what persecutions or trials or life challenges that come your way, trust in the Lord that He is there with you, that he will strengthen you in it, that he will deliver you from it and from every evil work and that he will preserve you unto his heavenly Kingdom.

1. Give thanks to the Lord for His promises and assurance that he will stand with you and strengthen you in life’s difficulties and will deliver you from every evil work. Give Him thanks that he will preserve you unto his heavenly kingdom.
2. Pray that the Lord will give you a heart of deep loyalty to Him and to your leaders such that you will not abandon your faith nor your leaders in times of difficulties.
3. Ask the Lord for grace to develop deep roots in Christ through the word, through prayers, and through a personal relationship with God.
4. Pray for boldness in the faith to stand in the face of life’s challenges or persecution of your faith.

Faith Confession

1. I declare my complete faith and loyalty to my God and the Lord Jesus Christ in all life situations whether good or bad, whether painful or joyful.
2. I declare that with God’s grace I will never abandon my faith and my leaders in times of persecutions or life difficulties but will stand firm knowing that God always stand with us through life’s difficulties
3. I confess that the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom in Jesus name.
